Emergency dentist questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe toothache, a knocked-out, broken or cracked tooth, a lost filling or crown, a swollen gum or face, pain or bleeding after an extraction, and pain that keeps you awake at night. If you are unsure, call us on 07857 998997 and we will tell you whether you need to come in.
Is there an emergency dentist open at night, on Sundays or on bank holidays?
Yes. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, Sundays and bank holidays.
Is there an emergency dentist in Birmingham city centre?
Our clinic is at 16 Drury Lane in Solihull, about 9 miles from Birmingham city centre. Many patients travel from the city centre, Moseley, Kings Heath, Edgbaston and Harborne because we are open 24 hours and see emergencies without registration. Calling first lets us confirm your arrival time.
Do I need to be registered to book an emergency appointment?
No. You do not need to be registered with us or have a referral. We are a private clinic, so you can book an emergency appointment straight away instead of waiting for an NHS slot.
How much does an emergency dentist cost?
Our emergency consultation is a flat £20 and includes a full examination and any X-rays needed to find the cause. If treatment is needed, the dentist explains the options and the cost before anything starts.
Should I go to A&E or an emergency dentist?
Most dental problems need a dentist. Go to A&E or call 999 for swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, swelling that closes an eye, heavy bleeding that will not stop, or serious injury to the face or jaw.
Dental emergency or A&E?
Most dental emergencies need a dentist, not a hospital. Call us on 07857 998997 if you have any of the problems on the left. Go to A&E or call 999 for the problems on the right.
