Lost filling and crown questions
Is a lost filling or crown an emergency?
It is not always painful, but the exposed tooth can become sensitive, crack further or decay quickly, so it is best seen within a day or so. If you have pain, swelling or a sharp edge, call us now.
Can I glue a crown back on myself?
Please do not use household glue. Keep the crown safe and bring it with you. A pharmacy sells temporary dental cement that can hold it in place for a short time, but it should not replace a dentist's visit.
Can a lost crown be re-cemented on the same day?
Frequently, if the crown and the tooth underneath are in good condition. If the tooth has broken or decayed, the dentist will explain whether a new crown or another treatment is needed.
Do I need to be registered to book?
No. You do not need to be registered with us or have a referral. We are a private clinic, so you can book an emergency appointment straight away instead of waiting for an NHS slot.
How much does an emergency lost filling or crown appointment cost?
Our emergency consultation is a flat £20 and includes a full examination and any X-rays needed to find the cause. If treatment is needed, the dentist explains the options and the cost before anything starts.

Most dental emergencies need a dentist, not a hospital. Call us on 07857 998997 if you have any of the problems on the left. Go to A&E or call 999 for the problems on the right.
